I am not very good at growing things. I think I love them to death but I admire people who can grow. I visited this Farm in Alaska because in my mind I could not contemplate any farming in the state of Alaska but boy was I wrong! I took the tour to see what a frontier Farm could produce and was met by Al Poindexter who I believe is the founders son. This gentleman provided an education which was noteworthy on the farm where they grow everything from apples to berries to cabbage and even medicinal products. Surprising product was the peony's which come into bloom late in the season and is a large market for weddings all over the world which they do a thriving business and deliver these flowers. Who knew! He explained by trial and error how they have succeeded over the years and this is the mark of a true entrepreneur. A big seller is their soil. now that's something you'll have to read about on your own because I'm not going to Spill the Beans. A medicinal product that he is growing is rhodiola for pharmaceutical companies. Supposed to have something to do with helping the brain . he said you can't kill this plant if you want to. I learned by going on their website that Al was a teacher before he returned to the farm and it shows in the way that he teaches you about the farm. If you find yourself in the area you really must visit and become illuminated on the frontier Farm.
