Wonderful nursery! I read the reviews, and thought I'd take a chance with buying a serviceberry. I was truly surprised when it arrived, it was much larger and healthier than expected. I then ordered 5 more perennials, and they, too, arrived with lush growth and excellent root systems. I've been ordering plants for many years, from numerous nurseries, and these were the best I've seen.

Everything arrived in excellent condition! Will definitely be ordering from here again. I love that they have a section for keystone species on their website, too.

The plants I ordered (Maple Leaf Viburnum) arrived in great condition and ready to plant. I have watered the bejeezus out of them during this Maryland draught and with the "extension" of fall the plants have thrived. Cannot wait to see them in the Spring! Ordering online is easy and the plants arrived in a very timely manner. If you can't find what you want now, use the "notify me" for when they are back in stock. I highly recommend Direct Native Plants for your native plant needs :)

I was the first person to write a Google review for Direct Native Plants, and I gave them 5 stars. Today, I'm revising that to 2 stars. One of the plants I ordered, winterberry, requires one male for several females, and only the females produce berries. I chose it because birds eat the berries, so it's beneficial for wildlife. Also, I live in a subdivision and must make my native plant garden tolerable for our HOA. I have very little space and have to be very choosy about what I plant and where. One of the shrubs they labeled as female turned out to be male. It was small when I ordered it, so I had to wait about 3+ years for it to mature enough to confirm the sex. I was finally able to check for sure when it bloomed over the past few weeks. I have a female, male, and what was supposed to be a female in a row next to my front door. Unfortunately, I will need to remove the mislabeled one and replace it with a female shrub that produces berries. It will be far behind the other two in size. I e-mailed Direct Native Plants about it. This could be happening to other customers and perhaps they should improve their system to better keep track of the males vs females. I am a small business owner myself and the way I would have handled a situation like this would be to respond immediately and offer to replace the item. I was not expecting that, but I did think I would get some kind of response. Instead, they just ignored me. They have created a lot of hassle for me and didn't even bother to respond, so I'm revising my rating to 2 stars. My original review: I ordered two female winterberry plants and one male winterberry plant a week and a half ago and they were delivered via USPS this past week in perfect condition! I also want to add that their website is one of the cleanest (no clutter) and easiest to navigate of the various native plant nurseries I have found. I also appreciate that they deliver within the continental US. It has been a hassle for me to try to find native plant nurseries that have items in stock and will ship to my area. Many of them only sell locally and make you come pick them up yourself. I was really happy to find them and will probably order from them again!
