What an extraordinary and unexpected find! A visit is well worth the time. It is an immaculate park-like setting (32 acres) filled with all kinds of native and hard to find plants at very reasonable prices. The owners are exceptionally well versed and willing to provide guidance and suggestions. They cater to many local parks and native habitats in the mid-Atlantic area. Just go, it's well worth the trip.
I visited today for the 1st time. Cool place & not like other nurseries / garden centers I've been to. Owner / staff were very friendly & helpful. They carry lots of native plants! I was looking for a spicebush for promethea moth cats which I couldn't find anywhere closer to Parkville so I visited Kollar. Since I was there & prices are reasonable, I got a smooth aster which I was in luck for as it was their last 1! While I was waiting for the payment to be processed, I saw a bug which I never seen before. The owner(?) told me it is a wheel bug & provided some interesting facts about them. Lastly, I appreciate that they keep inventory up-to-date as much as possible!!
One of my favorite parts about this nursery is it's family run and it fits in with the nature around it. Mature versions of the plants they sell are growing all around the property so you can see what the plant will look like. The property is beautiful and peaceful and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and kind.
Wow, what a hidden gem this native plant nursery is tucked away near the MD-PA border. Jeremy took time to help me understand what was needed to make sure I had the male and female plants I needed to produce fruit to feed the birds in my yard. Also, this is the only place I found where I could buy native pawpaw trees, from which we will enjoy the delicate fruit in the coming years. Thanks, Kollar Nursery!
Beautiful nursery working with nature. Perfect afternoon trip for plant and nature lovers. And they have all the plants and trees in the world! And the knowledge and information to help you grow them. They are also supportive of pollinators, birds and wildlife so if you are looking to design your yard, please visit. Prices are reasonable. Parking available on site. And a lovely scenic drive makes getting there half the fun.
