I purchase all my native landscaping plants through the wildflower nursery. I order online and pick up from my local farmer's market. All my plants are thriving! I hope to make the trip to visit the nursery in person soon.
I ordered hard to find Native sedges from 3 separate nurseries online; one of those being Missouri wildflowers. The plants I got here were in great shape compared to the two nurseries I ordered from. One of the other nurseries I had request new plants. The plants I got here were also shipped much further than the other two nurseries. If that doesn't get the point across I don't know what will. Missouri wildflowers did a great job!
This place was gorgeous. We traveled here on a snowy day in late April. You travel down a gravel road dotted with wildflowers, then drive past greenhouses filled with sprouts and park near a cabin-esque house. Next to the house are rows and rows of nicely labeled native plants to pick from. Carts and trays are handy at every turn. There are aquatic plants in the back, as well as vines, bushes, and saplings. Between the flowers and back area are mix packs of native plants to get you started right if you are unsure of what to get. The plants are a good price. 2.75 for small pots, 5 for medium, and 10 to 12 for large. I am unsure of bush and tree prices. I was so excited, I spent quite a bit of money. You simply pull your cart up to the house doors and someone comes out to check you out. We were asked if we needed help quite a few times, so don't fret thinking you will have to guess which plants are best. Overall, this place is a hidden treasure and we'll worth the drive.
I pass through Jeff City a lot for work and I've always wanted to stop by. I finally did yesterday and this place is gorgeous! They have a large variety of native plants and they're all well taken care of. The staff is really helpful and more than happy to answer any questions that you might have. They have a small gift shop where they sell mixed seeds, t shirts and such. Since I was traveling, I ended up just buying some seeds. I can't wait to plant them in the fall/winter and see how they come out in the spring. Highly recommend this place for plants
I was honestly surprised when I found this nursery online and the selection of seeds and potted plants they stock. Before moving to southern Missouri, I previously worked in western MN for USFWS running the native restorations for tall grass prairies and wetlands across several counties. We’ve personally done native restorations on the last 3 properties we’ve owned and now we are on a new 11 acre property and I am thankful to find a native plant source to help with the grassland and forest restoration here. Their prices are very good (seed harvesting of native forbs is labor intensive) and the website is easy to use to find what you need. I like their seed mix collections as well. I only placed a small order this time of a little over a lb of seed so I could get a snow seeding in this winter but will be placing a larger order this spring of potted plants to jump start our landscaping and property restoration. So happy to have a good native nursery to shop from even if we are 3.5 hours from their store. My online order was processed quickly (ordered 8/7 and arrived this morning 8/9) and the 2 live plants in the order were in good shape. I look forward to ordering more in the future.
