I just realized I haven’t left a review for this magical liminal space!! From local art to lovingly tended plants and plant accessories, this place is a DREAM. The owner is immensely kind, has phenomenal energy and is very knowledgeable—I always feel like we’re two people just being with one another, rather than inhabiting a transactional moment. I always stay longer than intended to, because the selection and conversation are that good. ✨🤩🙌🏼💚 Every plant I’ve gotten from full plant to small discounted leggy bbs that needed propagated, are THRIVING and were so well priced. I love going to Muddy Roots when I’m feeling low.
The shop is very welcoming and the owner is incredibly knowledgeable on all things plant and plant care! She helped find the perfect plant for me and my space. Also I love that the shop showcases other southern Illinois artists from locally made jewelry, art, and music! Definitely a staple shop on Murphysboro Main Street!
I just discovered this store a few days ago. I could not believe the selection of carnivorous plants! I saw 4 different types. The prices were great, especially if you consider that usually, you can only find them online and have pay for shipping. I bought a sundew and pitcher plant, both in great health. I’m looking forward to more purchases in the future!

This is my favorite place to buy plants. I love not only the variety of plants but the welcoming atmosphere & the owners willingness to share all her plant knowledge & her going out of her way to try & find plants on my wish list & bring them to the store for purchase. She also sets up plant swaps in the store so you can connect with other plant enthusiasts & leave with great plants. I have never been disappointed in any class/ workshop she has given. I always leave feeling like I learned so much.
