About

Houston Audubon is a conservation organization dedicated to protecting birds and their habitats across the Greater Houston and Galveston regions, managing over 17 acres of nature sanctuaries established in 1969. The organization implements comprehensive bird conservation programs including habitat restoration, coastal bird monitoring, and urban bird surveys while actively promoting bird-friendly communities through native plant initiatives and bird-safe design practices. Houston Audubon engages the community through volunteer opportunities, educational programs, guided field trips, and advocacy efforts aimed at protecting critical habitats like Bolivar Flats and supporting beach-nesting bird populations. Visitors and members can participate in citizen science projects, attend educational events, explore sanctuaries, and shop at the Natives Nursery, making meaningful contributions to regional bird conservation and habitat restoration.
