About

Lowcountry Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting land and water forever throughout coastal South Carolina. Since 1986, the organization has permanently protected over 165,000 acres across six geographic conservation focus areas within the state's 17-county coastal plain, making it one of the most impactful land trusts in the nation. Through conservation easements, land stewardship, and community partnerships, Lowcountry Land Trust safeguards the landscapes and waterways foundational to the region's resilience and residents' quality of life. The organization also creates community green spaces by permanently protecting privately owned land and opening it to public access, including the iconic 44-acre Angel Oak Preserve in partnership with the City of Charleston. Beyond land protection, Lowcountry Land Trust connects people to nature through educational and recreational events that foster camaraderie and immerse the community in traditional Lowcountry pastimes. With a commitment to nurturing the relationship between people and place, the organization welcomes volunteers, donors, and sponsors to join its mission of sustaining the soul of the Lowcountry.
