About

Southern Plains Land Trust is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Southern Plains, often called America's Serengeti. Through strategic land acquisition and conservation easements, the organization has protected over 60,000 acres of prairie habitat, creating a network of refuges for native wildlife and plants. The Land Trust's mission centers on rewilding the Southern Plains by restoring critical grassland ecosystems that once supported millions of bison, extensive prairie dog colonies, pronghorn, and elk. Operating as an accredited member of the Land Trust Alliance and certified by the State of Colorado, Southern Plains Land Trust implements a comprehensive five-pillar approach encompassing land acquisition, rewilding initiatives, biodiversity conservation, community outreach, and scientific monitoring. Individuals and businesses can support this vital conservation work through donations, volunteering, carbon credit purchases, and planned giving opportunities.
