Primeval Forest Nursery

I knew I was interested in purchasing red chokeberry and black chokeberry and found the nursery on wny wild ones native nursery list which was incredibly helpful. I looked at Primeval forests online spreadsheet which is such a great tool. Called and spoke with Catie who was so kind and helpful with suggestions. I ended up going with the chokeberries and used primevals planting service. It was SO. HOT out and they did the most amazing job. It looked like they had been there the whole time. Catie was so kind to answer all my questions and give suggestions for different plants. I haven’t been out to the nursery but hope to visit soon. Looking forward to working with Catie again to get some more natives. Highly recommend!!!

This nursery offers a large and tempting variety of native plants and trees to beautify the landscape and nurture pollinators, birds and other wildlife. Today was our first visit, and I hadn't intended to buy any flowering plants, but the blooming Virginia Rose caught my eye. It has the most delicious fragrance -- far sweeter than any exotic species -- so I had to bring it home. Even though Primeval Forest is smaller than many other nurseries in WNY, it has the largest selection of native species of any place we've visited. A hidden gem!

Huge selection of native plants!! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable too. They helped me picked out a few shining willows to help with the wet spot near my neighbors fence line. I love how they put out a spreadsheet catalog usually in the spring of what’s available, size, light requirements, etc. also the container buy back program is an amazing incentive!

Excellent native plant nursery with a wide selection of plants in a small area. They have everything from wildflowers up to trees. If you haven't planted many native plants before, the owner is very knowledgeable and she can make suggestions. Most of what they carry was gown on site aside from the larger trees and bushes!

This review is long overdue. Primeval Forest is an exceptional resource that I'd previously only dream of finding in town. This is the spot to find your native keystone trees and shrubs, sedges, warm and cool season grasses, wildflowers, vines, ferns, and even spring ephemerals that I haven't seen in any other nursery. If you're new to landscaping with native plants in Western New York, consider making room for a native species of oak, willow, plum, or birch--depending on the size and growing conditions of your site. These plants are the powerhouses of local ecosystems, supporting hundreds of insects and bird species. Primeval Forest offers plenty of these trees in various sizes, but they offer so much more! All at excellent prices. It's always a joy coming here and browsing from early spring through late summer. This nursery has helped turn my backyard into a blooming, buzzing haven for butterflies, katydids, stick insects, hummingbirds, chickadees, Polyphemus moths, and plenty of other friends that I'm delighted to share my life with.
