Master Gardener Program

About

The Nebraska Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 1976, empowers community volunteers with science-based horticulture education to promote sustainable gardening practices across Nebraska. Through county-based training programs, Master Gardener volunteers learn integrated pest management, plant selection, landscape management, and soil fertility to address local horticultural needs. Participants complete 40 hours of training and 40 hours of community service annually, extending UNL Extension's reach by providing residents with expert knowledge on sustainable horticultural practices. The program serves both home gardeners and green industry professionals, making quality horticulture education accessible throughout the state.
