Master Gardener Program

About

The Nebraska Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 1976, empowers community members with science-based horticulture education to promote sustainable gardening practices across Nebraska. Through comprehensive training in integrated pest management, plant selection, soil health, and landscape management, Master Gardener volunteers become trusted local resources for horticultural information and sustainable practices. The program extends UNL's educational mission by preparing certified volunteers to educate their neighbors about environmentally responsible gardening, contributing to healthier home landscapes and communities throughout the state. With training sites located in counties across Nebraska, the program offers accessible pathways for citizens to deepen their gardening knowledge while giving back to their communities through volunteer service.
